NHDC’s Cemeteries service
NHDC’s Burials team manages North Hertfordshire’s cemeteries, liaises with funeral directors and stonemasons, arranges burials and administers deeds/records. Our staff also offer advice on burial options and are available to answer any queries you have regarding our cemeteries.
Arranging burials/interment of ashes
If you are thinking of arranging a burial or interment of cremated remains, please contact us on 01462 474000 or email@example.com. Applications are normally made to us by funeral directors as they can help a deceased person's family/friends make the necessary arrangements. Please see the useful contacts section for information on funeral directors.
We can accept applications direct from the deceased's family/friends, although we would need the appropriate documentation before we could confirm a booking. Please contact us on the details below for further information and advice if you do not want to appoint a funeral director.
NHDC is able to offer a wide range of interment options at Wilbury Hills cemetery. To see options in our other cemeteries, please visit the individual cemetery pages above. If you have any special requirements, such as cultural or religious customs that you would like us to consider, please contact us on the details below to discuss your requirements.
Pre-purchasing the rights to a plot
Plots at Wilbury Hills may be pre-purchased for future interment. Normally, we allocate the next available plot. However, we can consider requests for a specific plot. Deeds granting the exclusive right of burial are issued for 50 years. If you are thinking of pre-purchasing a plot, please contact the Burials team via the contact details below.
Due to the layout of some sections at St John’s Hitchin, Wilbury Hills Letchworth, and Icknield Way Letchworth, memorials must be erected on the head or foot of graves. If you have any queries about memorials or floral tributes, or have a specific wish about the position of a memorial, please contact the Burials team on the details below.
