Proposed Submission Local Plan 2011-2031

The new Local Plan will replace the 1996 Local Plan. It will cover the period 2011-2031 and will set targets for new homes, employment and retail development, and identify areas of land where these developments should be built. It will also consider what infrastructure is needed to support development. The Local Plan's policies will be used for making decisions on planning applications.

Cabinet approved the Proposed Submission Draft Local Plan at a meeting on Monday 26 September 2016. Public consultation on the plan started on Wednesday 19th October 2016 and ended on Wednesday 30th November 2016. Representations from that consultation can be viewed through the Councils online software.

Update 29 March 2022

The Council has recently updated the software that is used by the whole organisation to manage correspondence.  Following the upgrade some links to previous consultation responses to the Local Plan are currently not working on the consultation portal.   The Council are working with their IT team to resolve this issue as soon as possible so that all representations are available to view again.  This does not affect the work of the Inspector who has been provided with access to all the representations throughout the Examination.

Full Council approved the submission of the plan for examination on 11 April 2017.

What happens next?

The local plan was submitted to Government on 9 June 2017.

All of the representations from this consultation were submitted in full for the Inspector’s consideration.

Further information on the examination and next steps is available on the Local Plan Examination pages. This includes the supporting evidence and technical studies for the Plan.
