How we consult with you
North Hertfordshire District Council uses a wide variety of methods for communicating and consulting with the people of North Hertfordshire. Using a combination of methods we can provide targeted and more comprehensive consultation. Detailed in the diagram below are a just a few of the ways in which we engage with you.
The face of consultation is forever changing and as a result so is our approach at North Hertfordshire District Council. For instance, in line with electronic government targets, when we consult with you using a questionnaire approach, this will be made available in both paper and electronic format. In the future we will be looking to consult more with you by mobile phone through text messaging and even via on-line discussion groups. Unlike other councils, North Hertfordshire District Council strives to use its own in-house expertise to carry out consultation excercises rather than external consultation companies. Whilst it is not possible to do this for all consultation exercises, many of the smaller scale, service level consultation exercises are carried out in-house using the SNAP Software consultation package. This package allows us to design professional questionnaires from our office pc's and also makes data entry, data analysis and data presenting a straight forward and relatively stress free process. The benefits of this approach for residents is a considerable reduction in cost for consultation exercises and a quicker response time in feeding back the results of consultation to you. All consultation activities at the council are now policed by the Consultation Officer to ensure that we continue to provide professional consultation to the residents and stakeholders of North Herts. The council also has a 5-year Consultation Strategy which was developed to ensure a consistency to all consultations undertaken at the council.
