The Place Survey
Background
The Place Survey is a new consultation that all local authorities are required to carry out on a two yearly basis. The Place Survey was devised by central government and replaces the Best Value Performance Indicator Survey (BVPI) which was carried out by NHDC in 2000, 2003 and 2006. The Place Survey has been developed as part of a new focus on improving outcomes for local people and places – rather than on processes, institutions and inputs.
Methodology
The Place Survey will be carried out every two years and will use a postal survey methodology. The sample for the consultation will be taken from the Post Office Address File (PAF) and 1100 responses are required. The questionnaire includes questions on the following themes:
- About your local area
- Your local public services
- Information
- Local decision-making
- Getting involved
- Respect and consideration
- Community Safety
