The Council comprises all 49 elected members. This is the decision body for the authority and determines the overall strategy and policy of the Council. |

The Cabinet will take decisions on service and management matters except statutory matters reserved to Council; strategy and policy; local issues delegated to Area Committees; matters of Appeal; matters delegated to officers |
The Standards Committee deals with matters relating to the conduct and the probity of Councillors and officers. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman of this Committee are independent and non-political appointments. This Committee also deals with the conduct of Parish Councillors Meets when required |
This Committee examines and reports to Cabinet on service delivery and delivery of services from other agencies and the private sector. The Committee sets its own Work Programme and deals with matters under the Council's call-in procedure |
The Committee monitors and reviews the activities of the whole Council. In particular, through fundamental service reviews and the best value performance plan. It assists the Council in the development and review of Policy and the Council's audit function |

This board is responsible for making Appointments to Chief Officer posts within policy agreed by Cabinet |
This Committee deals with a range of matters including contentious licensing applications, certain planning decisions referred to it from area committees and other matters, which by their nature require a judicial approach to their consideration. Lastly it may consider any matters which cannot be determined by other committees due to insufficient numbers of members. |

This Committee comprises 15 elected Members, and is the body which determines planning applications submitted to the Council.. |
