Your Local Councillors
North Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council are democratically accountable to local people through 49 District Councillors and nine County Councillors.
These councillors are elected by residents to represent their interests on each Council. In addition there are Town Councils for Royston and Letchworth Garden City and 29 parish councils. If you live in a rural area you will probably have parish councillors to represent you too.
Local councillors are there to:
- Listen to and represent the local community when making decisions through the Council's committees.
- Act as advocate of local people in a wider context, championing their causes and channelling their grievances and demands.
