Our Vision and Priorities
The vision for North Hertfordshire provides a long-term view of the future of the district over the next five to ten years. This vision has been developed by the Council in partnership with the police, health service, County Council, North Herts College, the voluntary sector and representatives of the local business community. The vision has been encapsulated in the following short statement:
Making North Hertfordshire a vibrant place to live, work and prosper.
North Hertfordshire District Council is fully committed to working in collaboration with both its partners and the local community to deliver this vision for the district. In order to do so, a number of strategic objectives have been developed, which will allow the Council to focus on those things that matter to you, the residents of North Hertfordshire.
The Strategic Objectives
Sustainable Communities - To promote sustainable development of the district to ensure we deliver adequate affordable housing, protect the environment and conserve the heritage of our historic settlements.
Safer Communities - To encourage responsible citizenship and to create safer communities with less crime and less fear of crime.
Healthier Communities - To promote first class leisure and cultural facilities to contribute to healthy living for all our citizens.
Equal Communities - To target resources at areas of disadvantage in the district to reduce social exclusion and improve the quality of life for everyone.
Prosperous Communities - To create opportunity for all by promoting sustainable economic development.
Satisfied Communities - To ensure that we listen to our citizens and deliver responsive, high quality, value for money, customer-focused services.
In developing these strategic objectives, the Council has taken into account a number of factors including national priorities, the financial pressures facing local authorities, and the views of local residents.
