Consultation

After developing a Business Continuity Plan, consult with your staff, trade unions, suppliers and customers.  This will have the benefit of making it known that you have a Business Continuity Plan in place and that any minor anomalies, unknown to you, but identified by this consultation process can be included within your final plan.

Preparedness

Ensure that all your co-workers at all levels are involved in the development of your Business Continuity Plan.  Promote preparedness amongst your employees, their families and friends, your customers and suppliers and encourage them to find out more about how you will manage during a major incident.  Practice the plan using drills, live exercises, table-top exercises and training sessions to ensure that Business Continuity Planning is embedded throughout your organisation.

Ensure that you have adequate communication plans to communicate with your customers and suppliers as well as your staff.
