Taxi Forum
North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) hosts a quarterly taxi forum with representatives from local taxi companies including private hire and hackney carriage drivers. Details of agendas and previous minutes can be found on the 'Taxi Forum Meeting Information' page.
The following dates have been scheduled for the forum.

Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy Update
Committee recommended that Cabinet adopt Policy B which removes the existing hackney carriage zones.
The effect of the removal of the existing zones is as follows:
- All existing and new hackney carriages will be licensed to ply for hire in the District of North Hertfordshire;
- Any North Hertfordshire District Council licensed hackney carriage will be able to use any hackney carriage rank within the District; and
- Any North Hertfordshire District Council licensed hackney carriage will be able to be ‘flagged down’ anywhere within the District.
It does not mean that any hackney carriage licensed by other Councils can ply for hire within North Hertfordshire.
As an example, if an existing Letchworth hackney carriage takes a fare to Royston it would currently have to return empty. With the removal of zoning, the hackney carriage could from January 2011 ply for hire in Royston and return with a fare.

DSA fee increases from 4 January 2011 due to VAT change
VAT will increase from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent on 4 January 2011. This increase will affect the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) non-statutory test fees for taxi and private hire tests . The fees listed below are effective from 4 January 2011.
