Prices for Taxi Fares
The Council sets maximum fares each year for journeys undertaken in a hackney carriage. As these are a maximum, fares can be negotiated downwards by the hirer. North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) considers it good practice to review the fare scales at regular intervals. NHDC reviews the fare scales on an annual basis. Fares for out of district journeys can be negotiated prior to the commencement of the journey in both private hire vehicles and hackney carriages. A fare card should be displayed in every hackney carriage vehicle giving details of maximum fares.
