Does your club need more volunteers?

The Volunteer Centres in Royston and North Herts are calling on volunteer organisations in this area to get involved with the inspiration and legacy of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games project. Volunteering Herts (the partnership of the 9 volunteer centres in Hertfordshire) have been awarded Inspire Mark by LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) for their work in implementing this project locally.

Hundreds of thousands of people will be inspired to volunteer by the London 2012 Games, many of these will not have previously volunteered - here is your chance to involve them in your club.

The Inspiration and Legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Project is designed to be a catalyst for change, using the opportunity of a generation to encourage active involvement in volunteering.

In order to ensure there is a volunteering legacy from the London 2012 Games we all have to start work NOW. Its never to early to get involved and the volunteer centres can help you create and write up volunteering opportunities for your new roles.

The B to E of Games inspiration defines a Games Inspired Volunteering opportunity as an opportunity that will:

  • Benefit your local community now and/or in the future
  • Be an opportunity that celebrates the 2012 Games
  • Have a demonstrable link with the 2012 Games
  • Be a practical expression of the Olympic values; excellence, friendship, respect and the Paralympic values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality.

Get thinking how you can get involved in this exciting opportunity and get in touch with your local Volunteer Centre:
