Churchgate Project Exhibition
The first stage of a large-scale public consultation exercise to help inform Simons’ vision for the redevelopment of Churchgate and its surrounding area started on 18th May with a stakeholder launch and public exhibition in St. Mary’s Church, Hitchin. The exhibition ran for five days in St. Mary’s Church from 18th to 22nd May, and then moved to the Hitchin Library for a further two weeks from 24th May to 5th June 2010.
Over 1500 people visited the exhibition. Representatives from Simons and NHDC were available at the exhibition in St. Mary’s Church to answer questions and take comments. Details of the exhibition can be viewed on Churchgate exhibition archive.
A summary Report of feedback from the public exhibition on Simons' vision has been prepared and can be viewed here.
A full list of the comments submitted regarding this first phase of consultation from 18th May to 6th August 2010, have been collated.
Feedback from the public exhibition and subsequent consultation with key stakeholders and the Churchgate Liaison Forum will be used to help further refine the plans as the scheme evolves. Residents and local businesses will then once again get to air their views on the refined scheme, well ahead of the submission of a planning application.
A Churchgate Liaison Forum has been established to bring together residents, businesses and the developer to ensure that information is widely disseminated and that all views can be clearly expressed, and understood as the scheme evolves. Further information about the role and membership of the Forum including dates for future meetings and meeting notes can be viewed on the Churchgate Liaison Forum page.
