Racial Incidence Reporting and Monitoring

North Hertfordshire District Council has a statutory requirement to support the community by recording and assisting customers who are victims of a racial incident, where the authority is directly involved. We will record the incident and ensure that the victim is referred to support agencies or authorities that are able to deal with the issue.

Incidents are recorded and monitored in line with the Best Value performance indicators BV174 and BV175. These indicators state:

  • BV 174 – The number of racial incidents recorded by the authority per 100,000 population.
  • BV 175 – The percentage of racial incidents that resulted in further action
