Implementing Electronic Government Statement
Here at North Hertfordshire District Council we view e-Government as a tool to assist us in delivering our services in a more efficient and cost effective way. Whilst e-Government may appear to focus on technology, we believe it is more about combining the use of IT systems with new ways of working, in order to make our services more accessible for all our customers.
In addition to this it encompasses the Council's Access to Services Strategy which has been designed to improve the experience our customers have when dealing with us. We are looking to improve all methods of contact (face to face, telephone and electronic) so that whatever method is chosen, customers are guaranteed a consistent and quality service. We are also introducing new solutions to give our customers the option of using on-line services if they wish.
Councils are given the opportunity to apply for funding to assist in the delivery of these aims. Each year the Council completes and Implementing Electronic Government (IEG) Statement explaining our progress towards implementing e-Government.
Councils were requested to complete a mid-term review in 2005 and this is shown below as IEG4.5. This statement shows how the Council is aiming to achieve a number of Priority Service Outcomes and how we continue to invest in improving the way in which we deliver services to our customers.
