Movie Photography
The Blake Brothers ran Hitchin's first cinema in Ickleford Road, where they showed this amazing novelty. In 1911 they photographed the celebrations on King George V's coronation, and a few days later showed the results in their cinema.
In this still photograph, crowds are waiting for the procession to arrive in the Marketplace. A movie camera stands behind the Union Jack, and can be clearly seen on the close-up.
