We operate a duty planning officer system whereby advice can be obtained by telephone. If you wish to come in and discuss matters with a planning officer it is advisable to ring and make an appointment - 01462 474000.
If you have an enquiry relating to a potential project, please contact us in writing providing as much detail as possible, enclosing a sketch plan. Due to the high level of planning applications we are currently processing, please allow 28 days for our reply.

Applications for planning permission
can be made electronically via the Planning Portal or through the post. The address for postal applications is Development & Conservation, North Herts District Council, P O Box 480, M33 0DE.
We have produced a simple guide to the planning process (56.4 KB)
so that you can clearly see what will happen to your application once it has been submitted. All correspondence to Planning Control must quote the relevant planning application reference number. Please note we may not be able to deal with your correspondence if the application number is not provided.
A charge (28 KB)
is made for the printing, photocopying or research of planning information. It is our aim to supply requested documents within 48 hours. Please contact Planning Reception on 01462 474000 providing full details of your request, together with contact details. You will be notified as soon as the documents are available for collection.
