Land Allocations

The Land Allocations document will specify which pieces of land are needed to meet the district's housing and other development targets. It will also define such matters as the precise extent of the green belt and town and village boundaries. There have been two consultations on Land Allocations so far: the Issues and Options Paper of January 2008 and the Additional Suggested Sites consultation of July 2009. The combined total of the sites between these two consultations are still the long-list that we are considering for allocation. All those sites which are being considered as possible housing sites have been considered in the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment.

The first stage in preparing the Land Allocations document was open for public comment between 24 January and 19 March 2008. The Land Allocations Issues & Options Paper is quite large, so has been broken down into smaller sections.

Land Allocations Additional Suggested Sites

As part of the Land Allocations Issues & Options Paper above, we asked if there were any other pieces of land which should be considered. A further 126 sites were drawn to our attention.

Between 20 July and 14 September 2009, we held a consultation to find out views on these 126 additional sites. The document is arranged by parish, although not all parishes have had sites suggested.
