Domestic clinical waste

Clinical Waste is any waste which poses a threat of infection to humans. The term also includes items such as surgical waste, used syringes, drugs or other pharmaceutical products.

Examples of clinical waste include:

  • Human tissue
  • Blood or other bodily fluids
  • Drugs or other pharmaceutical products
  • Swabs or dressings
  • Syringes, needles or other sharp instruments

There is no charge for removal of clinical waste from domestic properties. Frequency of collection and container provided e.g. sharps box or yellow/striped sack will vary according to each case. This service does not include a collection for nappies.

Please note:

  • The containers/sacks must be left at the boundary of your property for collection.
  • The items must be placed out by 7.30am.
  • We do not provide a clinical waste service for commercial properties.
