Travel links
Roads
The A1(M) runs through the district and provides a fast route to London, the Midlands and the North. The M1, M11 and M25 are also all within easy travelling distance. The principal east-west route is the A505, which connects all four towns with Luton to the west and Newmarket to the east.
Rail
The area is well served by the rail network with stations at Baldock, Hitchin, Knebworth, Letchworth Garden City, Ashwell and Royston.
Buses
Buses run frequently between the main towns and some of the villages, with services beyond to Luton, Stevenage and Bedford as well as National Express coaches linking with Luton and Stansted airports.
Air
Luton airport is less than 10 miles to the west of Hitchin and Stansted and Heathrow airports are less than an hour by car.
