Local Housing Allowance Rates - November 2008
How many rooms am I entitled to?
The number of rooms you are entitled to claim for depends on the number of people who live with you in your household. Please use the following as a guide and do not count the living room, kitchen or bathroom.
You are entitled to one bedroom for:
- every adult couple
- any other adult aged 16 or over
- any two children of the same sex aged under 16
- any two children aged under 10
- any other child
However if you are a single person under the age of 25 years and living alone, you will only be entitled to the 1 bedroom* rate in the first column, regardless of whether your accommodation is self-contained or not.
These rates are the calendar monthly amounts your Benefit calculation will be based on when you apply for help with your rent.
