Reduction in Council Tax due to a Disability
A reduction, equivalent to one Band, can be granted in respect of a property where a disabled person is resident. An application form must be completed and the following qualifying criteria met:
- There is a room predominantly used (whether for providing therapy or otherwise) by the disabled person: i.e. to allow for the installation and use of dialysis equipment.
- There is a second bathroom or kitchen required for meeting the needs of the disabled person.
- A wheelchair is required for meeting the individual’s needs at all times.
An application form is required. Once this is received, we will be in touch with you to arrange a visit to verify the entitlement.
Please note, if you reside in a property which is in Band A, you will still receive a reduction in your Council Tax liability.
