Alarms
To avoid the nuisance of house alarms going off for prolonged periods of time, it is advisable that owners of domestic and commercial properties with alarms register their properties. It is recommended that you name at least two key-holders and provide your local Police station and North Hertfordshire District Council Environmental Protection Team with their details.
If the Environmental Protection team receive a complaint about an alarm going off, it is quicker to resolve the problem if the key-holder details are already registered. Where key-holder details are not available and officers are unable to contact anybody, NHDC will have to instigate having the alarm disconnected. The cost of this will be recharged to the owner/proprietor of the property.
If a vehicle alarm is constantly sounding, a notice would be attached to the vehicle if the owner cannot be contacted. A qualified contractor will be called out to disable the alarm. If the alarm cannot be disabled, the vehicle would be taken away and stored in a secure compound. The owner of the property or vehicle would be charged for the officer’s and contractor’s time.
