Construction Site Noise

North Hertfordshire District Council use guidelines set out in The Control of Pollution Act 1974 regarding noise from construction and heavy plant machinery. Essential works may need to be carried out outside these hours such as works on a Railway or road for Health and Safety reasons or emergency works early in the morning.

Whilst each construction site is different (and will be assessed as such) the generally accepted hours for noisy work within populated areas of the district are:

• Monday to Friday 07:30- 18:00hrs
• Saturday 08:00- 13:00hrs
• Sunday and Bank Holidays no noisy work to be carried out.
