Discretionary Housing Benefit

Discretionary housing payments are made to those people whose housing benefit or council tax payments do not meet their housing needs.

These additional payments are only made in exceptional circumstances.

Who can apply?

Anyone who is claiming housing benefit or council tax benefit and whose circumstances prevent full benefit being paid for either their rent, or council tax can make an application for Discretionary Housing Payments.

How to apply

Applications must be made on an application form. Application forms can be obtained from,
