Local Housing Strategy 2008 – 2013
The Council is the strategic housing authority for North Hertfordshire. We have a duty to consider the housing needs of the district and to produce and deliver a Local Housing Strategy which sets out plans for tackling these house needs.
Our Vision:
Making North Hertfordshire a vibrant place to live, work and prosper.
The new Local Housing Strategy will now replace the existing housing strategy. Within the new document the following areas will be considered.
- Vision and priorities
- The challenge for housing
- The local housing market
- Sustainable communities
- New housing
- Greener healthier homes
- Making best use of stock
- Housing for diversity
- Homelessness
The new Local Housing Strategy was adopted by the full council on the 26th June 2008. The document will feed into the London Commuter Belt Sub regional Housing Strategy (along with 14 other Local Authority's Housing Strategies). The sub regional Housing Strategy will then be assessed against the fit for purpose criteria laid down by central government. The completed sub regional strategy is expected to be available in 2009.
