Sub-regional Housing Strategy

The East of England region covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The East of England Regional Forum produces a Housing Strategy to cover the whole of this region. Further details can be found on the Government Office for the East of England (GO-East) website.

GO-East works together with the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to improve the quality of life for people who live or work in the East of England. Further information about these organisations can be found on their websites:

The East of England region is further divided into nine sub-regions. The districts of Hertfordshire and four Essex districts (Brentwood, Chelmsford, Epping Forest and Harlow) together form the London Commuter Belt sub-region. Although diverse in many ways, these districts face many common challenges. In response to this, a housing strategy for the sub-region has been developed. This sets out agreed common strategic priorities for action. A copy of the strategy can be downloaded below.

The strategy has been informed by recently completed research by Cambridge University. This study analysed the housing market of the sub-region and the need for affordable housing within it. A copy of the research report can be downloaded below.
