Staying in your own home
A wide range of facilities and support is available to help you to continue living safely and comfortably in your own home.
You may be eligible for a Council grant to help with adaptations, repairs and improvements to your home.
Together with Anchor Housing, the Council has established a care and repair agency in North Herts called Anchor Staying Put. Anchor Staying Put can: help with repairs, improvements or adaptations to property; offer confidential advice, support and assistance; provide information on housing and support services provided by others; provide technical expertise with building works to property; and help get information on the different ways of paying for the work. They can be contacted at:

The Council operates a community alarm service for people who feel they would benefit from being able to summon assistance at the touch of a button. Please contact the Careline Officer on 01462 454609 for more information about this service.
The Council also operates a meals on wheels service.
Hertfordshire County Council's Adult Care Services may also be able to arrange services providing care or support, or provide aids and equipment to help people manage at home. They also provide general information and advice about local services and organisations. In order to give priority to those in greatest need, Adult Care Services staff always assess people's needs to work out what sort of help would be useful to them and whether they qualify for support arranged by the county council. Adult Care Services can be contacted on: 01438 737400.
