Drainage Problems

Help or advice concerning blockages and disrepair to private sewers and drains is available from the private sector housing team.

If you believe the problem is in the public sewer, contact your sewerage undertaker - this will be either Thames Water (08459 200800) or Anglian Water (0800 145145); check your water bill for details.

If you believe the problem is associated with a private sewer, then the responsibility for rectifying the problem rests with all owners of properties connected to the sewer up to the point of the problem.

If you believe the problem is in a drain, then the responsibility rests with the owner of the property.
