The Housing Strategy is developed within the framework of national, regional and sub-regional policies. There are therefore a large number of organisations that we interact and work with.
Department for Communities and Local Government
The government department with responsibility for housing (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister).
Government Office for the East of England
The regional government office which covers North Herts. Government offices work with regional partners and local people to help deliver the government's central and regional aims and objectives.
Hertfordshire County Council
The council which has responsibility for services across the whole of the county.
The Housing Corporation
The government body responsible for regulating housing associations.
National Housing Federation
The body which represents the independent social housing sector.
The Audit Commission
An independent public body responsible for ensuring that public money is used effectively through audit, inspection and monitoring.
The Citizens Advice Bureaux (C.A.B)
They offer free, confidential and impartial advice on a wide range of issues including: housing, debt, benefits, legal matters, employment and immigration.
Shelter
A national organisation which works to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people by providing practical aid and advice.
