Local Land Charge Searches

If you are a potential buyer or seller of a property in North Hertfordshire, then you may well be aware that, as part of the conveyancing process, a search against that property is conducted. Further information can be found on the 'Local Land Charges Information' page.

Local Authority Search

A full Local Authority search is in two parts. The first part of the LLC1 deals with all registerable charges, such as planning agreements, grants, tree preservation orders, and listed buildings.

The second part, the CON 29 deals with issues such as road schemes, planning history and environmental matters. For a full list of Con 29 questions can be found on the information page.

The information given on a search relates only to the property or land identified on the search requested and plan. The Council does not provide information regarding surrounding property or land unless this is specifically requested.

Home Information Packs

From 1st August 2007 if you are selling a residential property you will need a Home Information Pack before you can legally market your property. Both Freehold and Leasehold properties may require a pack. These packs will contain essential information any purchaser will need to know before buying the property, such as a local land charges search, evidence of title and an energy performance certificate. Personal Searches (Appointments Only)

A personal search is an inspection of the Local Land Charges Register only. It can be carried out by anyone upon payment of the fee. The 'personal search guidelines' page provides application procedures.
