Residents should place their bins and boxes on the boundary of their property nearest to the street where the collection vehicle normally picks up the waste.
If you are elderly, infirm or have a disability, and cannot put your bins or boxes at the edge of your property, please contact us to discuss other arrangements for assisted collections.
In order to help us to provide an effective and efficient service, please note the following points:
- Please do not place anything in your general waste bin if you could recycle it. We collect paper, glass and aluminium and steel cans, aerosols, food waste, garden waste and cardboard from the kerbside, and have provided many recycling facilities throughout the District where you can take plastic bottles, tetra paks, glass,paper, cans, textiles, shoes and other materials for recycling.
- Please do not put out extra bags of rubbish by your bin. Due to our waste minimisation policy we will not collect this. The capacity of your bin should be sufficient for two weeks waste if you are fully using all the recycling facilities available.
- Please do not ask for a larger bin unless you have six or more people living permanently in your household.
- No round is scheduled for a specific time, and all collection times are subject to change without notice. We do endeavour within our control to collect on the day we have told you, so please ensure that;
- Your bin is placed at its agreed collection point by 7:30 am on that day.
- Please ensure that the lid of your bin is closed (open bins cause damage to equipment, bins and refuse loaders).
Before you report a missed collection please check that it was the correct collection day for your waste or recycling. You can check this by using the collection calendar ![]()
