Shopping Basket Technology
This technology allows customers to pay for more than one service per visit. For example you can pay for Council Tax and a planning application without the need to create two separate transactions.
What type of Payment can I make?
You can make online payments for the following North Hertfordshires District Council services:
- Council Tax
- Mortgages
- Business Rates
- Parking Penalty Charge Notices (parking ticket)
- Leisure Services
- Planning
- Environmental Health
- Legal Services
- Other outstanding invoices
- Housing and Council Tax Benefit Overpayments
How can I pay – what type of card do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Switch/Maestro
- Visa/Delta
- Solo
We do not accept American Express and Diners Club International.
Is it safe to pay over the Internet?
Yes, it is very safe – the information you send us is encrypted, which means that nobody can read it as it travels across the Internet. When you are on the payment screen you will see a padlock symbol at the bottom right-hand corner; this confirms that the system we are using is safe and secure.
We have to satisfy strict criteria before we are given permission to use this service. We are issued a SSL certificate (Secure Socket Layer – the padlock) after we have met all the criteria.
What if I experience a problem?

How do I request a receipt?
A transaction receipt can be obtained online by filling-in the appropriate box as you progress your payment. Before the payment process is complete the system will ask you to enter your email details if you have not already done so.
