Annual Community Conference and launch of the new Sustainable Community Strategy for North Hertfordshire
Over 120 people attended and 27 organisations exhibited displays at the Annual Community Conference and launch of the new Sustainable Community Strategy (2.52 MB) at The Spirella Ballroom in Letchworth on 10 November 2008.
The partnership is keen to listen to what local people want and consultation and sharing information is essential for successful partnership working. As well as the launch of the strategy, representatives from key agencies from the public, private and voluntary sectors met with community leaders to share information and discuss the needs and priorities of the people of North Hertfordshire. They took part in workshops based on the themes of the strategy to help identify priorities and timescales and to share examples of best practice in their organisations and other partnerships.
The feedback from the workshops will be reported to North Hertfordshire Partnership and will be used to help to identify priorities and timescales to help make North Hertfordshire an even better and more vibrant place to live, work and prosper.
What is the Sustainable Community Strategy?
A Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) is the top level long term and holistic vision for an area. It is not just about the powers and responsibilities of the District Council. It draws on existing plans and strategies from all key local organisations and will influence their future plans. The SCS is based on evidence from available data sources and extensive local consultation. Previously known as community strategies they have evolved the past four years into sustainable community strategies.
What is the Local Strategic Partnership?
The North Hertfordshire Partnership is the Local Strategic Partnership for the district. Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) (42.8 KB) bring together the private, voluntary and community and public - including parish and town councils - sectors to improve the social, environment and economic well-being of their area.We have been and are working with Hertfordshire Forward - the County LSP - but have reflected the characteristics and needs of this area.
