London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

In the summer of 2012, the UK will come alive with the Olympic and Paralympic Games like never before, drawing on the country’s proud Olympic heritage.

The Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on 27 July will start a 60-day festival of sport and culture across the UK for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners Partnership  the county's London 2012 partnership, is maximising the opportunities and benefits that the Games will bring for the people of Hertfordshire.

2012 Day 2009

On Sunday 20th December 2009 North Herts celebrated Hertfordshire's 2012 Day with a programme of free swimming for under 16's and other activities across our leisure centres  in Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin and Royston.

North Herts Leisure Centre was also visited by Olympic silver medallist Mark Richardson who was interviewed by a group of young people from local school and clubs.  Read the interview summary (23.5KB) (link opens in a new window) to see what they found out.
