New guidance on Vehicle Parking at New Development

On 1 March 2006, North Hertfordshire District Council formally adopted the Draft Supplementary Planning Document on Vehicle Parking Provision at New Development.

Adoption Statement
“The Council considered the draft Minute of the meeting of the Cabinet held on 28 February 2006 in respect of the Draft Supplementary Planning Document: Vehicle Parking Provision at New Development and Associated Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment (Minute 177 refers).  The report considered by the Cabinet was tabled, together with the following:

It was moved by Councillor F.J. Smith, seconded by Councillor I.J. Knighton, and  

RESOLVED:  That the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on Vehicle Parking Provision at New Development be adopted.

REASON FOR DECISION: There is a need for the Council to adopt guidance on vehicle parking at new development to avoid a policy vacuum and ensure local interpretation of strategic, regional and national policy and standards on parking provision at new development.”

The SPD is adopted as supplementary to Policy 55 of North Hertfordshire District Local Plan No2. with Alterations as well as Policy 25 of the Hertfordshire County Council Structure Plan (and associated guidance).  The SPD will be reviewed as the new Local Development Document emerges.

Copies of the adopted SPD and associated documents will be made available for any interested parties that wish to refer to them.  The adopted SPD has been made available at the main Council Offices, Letchworth Garden City, all local Libraries and has been posted on this page.
