Core Strategy and Development Policies
Preferred Options Papers September 2007
From 20 September to 31 October 2007 we consulted upon two documents; the Core Strategy and the Development Policies. The consultation has now closed, but the consultation documents can still be viewed below. The online consultation software below shows both the consultation documents and the comments received. Please note, the process of loading all the representations into the online consultation software can take a number of weeks. All comments submitted direct via the online consultation software should appear within 48 hours of the consultation closing, but comments sent in paper form or by e-mail may take some time to appear here.
Guide to using the online consultation software
The online consultation software splits the consultation documents into sections and links comments to the appropriate section. There is an expandable table of contents on the left hand side which allows you to navigate the two documents. Please note that there are a number of maps and diagrams within the documents which can be seen by following the links from the following sections:
Maps and diagrams from Core Strategy
- Key Diagram
- Maps for the locationally specific preferred options and discounted options for each town are in the 'discounted options' section of Chapter 2
- Figure 1: small areas for spatial analysis is in Chapter 3
- Figure 2: urban structure of Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City and Baldock is in the 'Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Baldock and surrounding area' section of Chapter 3
- Revisions to village boundaries for eight villages are under Core Policy C in chapter 5
- There are graphs illustrating the housing trajectory under Core Policy F in chapter 5
Maps and diagrams from Development Policies
- Amendments to Employment Areas are under Policy 22 in chapter 7
- Primary and secondary shopping frontages are under Policy 27 in chapter 7
- Village and neighbourhood centres are under Polucy 28 in chapter 7
If you have difficulty using the online consultation software, pdf versions of the documents are at the bottom of the page, including a representation form which may be printed and posted to us.
The Core Strategy will state the Council's spatial vision for North Hertfordshire. It will be closely linked to the priorities identified in the Community Strategy. The Development Policies will give more detailed guidance on matters which will be taken into account when determining planning applications.
This is the second stage in preparing these documents. The first stage was 'issues and options' on which we consulted in 2005 and 2006. The documentation from that stage can be found on our archives page. After the consultation for this stage has closed, we will prepare another draft of the strategy. This is then submitted to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, who arranges an indepedent examination of the document to assess if it 'sound'. Any changes that are made by the inspector at this stage must be carried out.
