Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how we will involve the community in preparing the Local Development Framework (LDF) and in considering planning applications.
Statement of Community Involvement ![]()
During the preparation of the SCI we consulted neighbouring local authorities, parish councils, statutory consultees and a wide variety of private and voluntary sector local groups and organisations.
We also consulted the public at three stages during the preparation of the SCI:
- Issues and Options (January 2005);
- Preferred Options (May 2005); and
- Submission to Secretary of State (November 2005).
The representations received in response to the Submission SCI have now been considered by an independent Inspector from the Planning Inspectorate. In June 2006 we received his report, which included the changes we had to make before adopting the SCI.
The formal adoption statement gives details on how to make a legal challenge to the SCI.
Copies of the SCI and the Inspector's Report are available to view at the District's libraries (Baldock, Hitchin, Jackmans, Knebworth, Letchworth Garden City and Royston) and at the Council Offices, Gernon Road, Letchworth Garden City. The SCI was adopted by Full Council on 27 July 2006.
