Solar Panels & Wind Turbine Guidance
If you live in a flat, planning permission will always be required for the installation of solar panels and wind turbines if they would materially affect the external appearance of the building.
The installation of solar panels and wind turbines on single family dwellinghouses can sometimes benefit from being permitted development and, as such the specific grant of planning permission by the Council will not be required. Changes to permitted development come into effect with effect from 1 October 2008, information and advice is available from the Planning Portal.
