Making a Conservation Area Application

What do I need to know in order to make a planning application?

If you live within a Conservation Area there are various criteria which you need to be aware of in order to make a planning application.  A short guide to these has been produced.

The following document is in PDF format and will open in a NEW WINDOW. You will need Adobe Reader to view it. This can be obtained by clicking the 'Get Adobe Reader' link at the bottom of the page. Conservation Area Restrictions (22.2KB)

Conservation area consent can be obtained at the same time as making a planning application (539KB), or you may just need to apply for conservation area consent only (504KB).  There is no fee for submitting a Conservation Area Consent application.

Please note that in a conservation area you do not need consent to demolish a building which does not exceed 115 cubic metres or to take down any wall, gate or fence which is less than 1 metre high where abutting a highway, or less than 2 metres high elsewhere.
