Scott Wilson Report

Six local authorities within Hertfordshire commissioned independent research from consultants Scott Wilson to identify potential areas for Gypsy pitches across north and east Hertfordshire.

The six authorities involved in this independent research are Broxbourne, East Hertfordshire, North Hertfordshire, Stevenage, Welwyn Hatfield, and Hertfordshire County Council. The report, which was completed in October 2007, identified 9 potential ‘areas of search’ in North Hertfordshire which may be suitable for gypsy and traveller accommodation. The areas identified in the study are only the views of the consultants which might not necessarily be supported by the Council.  The Council has yet to do its own assessment of the areas, and has not made any decisions.  This will be done through the plan making process.  Due to the requirements of the East of England Plan Single Issue Review on gypsy accommodation, the Council will have to identify a set number of pitches identified by the region, and the Scott Wilson report will be an input to that process.

The report is set out below.  Due to its size, it has been broken down into a number of parts for downloading.
