Housing Capacity
In order to help us estimate how much greenfield land is needed for development and what community facilities may be needed in different settlements, we carry out Housing Capacity Studies. In 2003, our Housing Capacity Study was published, having been prepared by consultants Halcrow. Since then we have monitored how things have changed and we published Housing Capacity Update Papers in 2005 and 2006.
The 2006 Housing Capacity Update Paper was published in November 2006, based on data from 31 March 2006.
Housing Capacity Update Nov 2006 ![]()
The maps below accompany the Housing Capacity Update November 2006 and indicate sites which already have planning permission for housing and illustrate the estimates of other sites where housing may be acceptable. However, apart from those sites (red and orange on the maps) which already have planning permission, the inclusion of a site on these maps does not indicate that planning permission for housing will necessarily be granted.
The original 2003 Housing Capacity Study is reproduced below.
