Town Centre Template

The Town Centre Template was drawn up in 2001 with the intention of providing a set of pointers for the council to include when drawing up plans for improving the town centres in North Hertfordshire.

This includes ensuring that future strategies include provisions for future investments in all our town centres, and commercial development, community safety, preserving historic character, land use and transport.

The Template has already greatly influenced the make-up of the Hitchin Town Centre Strategy and will go on to contribute to the creation of other town centre strategies.
