Royston Railway Crossing
An online vote has today begun to win Royston a chunk of the Big Lottery Fund’s: “The People’s £50 Million”. North Hertfordshire District and Hertfordshire County Council have teamed up with national organisation Sustrans to design a project to create a new railway crossing in Royston.
This is one of a package of 79 schemes UK-wide that will happen under Sustrans’ Connect2 project. If Connect2 wins the vote all 79 will receive lottery funding, so a vote for Connect2 is a vote for Royston to receive a share of the £50 million.
You can vote online now at www.thepeoples50million.org.uk
Telephone voting will also be possible and will begin on Friday 7 December. All voting concludes at 12 noon on Monday 10 December.
Connect2 is one of four projects competing for the £50 million and Lorraine Kelly will be championing Sustrans' Connect2 on an ITV1 show on Tuesday 4 December at 11 pm.
The Royston railway crossing project will provide a long overdue new railway subway crossing to the north east of the town. It will address illegal and unsafe crossings of the railway and will provide access for pedestrians and cyclists from residential areas to schools, leisure centre and employment area.
If Sustrans wins the £50 million award Royston railway crossing will receive £700,000 of the scheme costs.
To find out more about Connect2 please visit www.sustransconnect2.org.uk. You can also register here to be sent the number to vote by phone as soon as we know it on 7 December. Alternatively, text Connect2 to 80010.
You can play your part in winning by voting and asking everyone you know to vote too. Just a few moments of your time could make all the difference. Please give it your support.
Remember, a vote for Connect2 is a vote for Royston.
