Road maintenance
Hertfordshire Highways 
are responsible for maintaining the region's roads, including:
- spreading grit/salt
- salt bins
- potholes
- street lighting
- road signs

Winter maintenance
Hertfordshire County Council’s Winter Maintenance service is managed by Hertfordshire Highways, who are on 24-hour stand-by during the season. They are responsible for spreading salt (or grit) to prevent ice from forming on the region's roads.
