Hertfordshire and Luton E-Marketplace

In partnership with the other Hertfordshire District and Borough Councils, Hertfordshire County Council and Luton Borough Council, North Hertfordshire District Council is working with IDeA:marketplace and @UKplc in developing an E-Marketplace.

IDeA marketplace are providing the E-Marketplace and @UKplc are working with all councils in contacting our suppliers.

Benefits to suppliers:

  • Ability to trade on the internet with Hertfordshire and Luton councils and other public sector organisations who use the @UKplc network.
  • New market opportunities with other Councils and schools in the region.
  • Ability to offer internet shopping to existing and new customers, businesses, private individuals in the UK, in Europe and Worldwide
  • Low set up costs
  • Efficiency savings
  • Electronic receipt of orders
  • Electronic issuing of invoices
  • The elimination of errors from re-keying order information
  • Elimination of postage costs and delays
  • Minimum computer requirements (an e-mail address and internet access are all that is required)
  • Ability to set up and maintain your own on-line catalogue with shopping basket facility

Benefits to all participating councils include:

  • Being able to access contracts and suppliers' catalogues in one place through the Hertfordshire and Luton E-Marketplace
  • Making efficiency savings through electronic processes
  • A single source of management information for future sourcing and contracting

Implementation of the e-Marketplace within all councils will be phased. All participating authorities will choose their own pilot service and thereafter manage a roll out programme across their organisations.

North Hertfordshire District Council has issued letters to all suppliers asking them to register with @UK plc.
