Coronavirus update: impact on council meetings

At the start of the coronavirus outbreak, and following Government advice on gatherings, decisions due to be taken at Committee meetings were either deferred or determined under delegated authority following consultation with Members of the respective Committee. Decisions made under delegated authority can be found here.

Following the enacted Local Authorities and Police and Crime Panels (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority and Police and Crime Panel Meetings) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020, the Council held virtual meetings which were streamed live on the Council’s YouTube page.

Due to the ending of the Flexible Meeting Arrangements on 7 May 2021, the majority of formal meetings are now required to convene in person.

While social distancing guidelines are still in place informal meetings may still be held virtually.

There may still be occasions when meetings are not able to be held or need to be postponed. If this happens, information will be made available on the Council’s website.

Recording council meetings

The Council operates openly and transparently and recognises that the press, public and Councillors have the right to record non-confidential committee meetings. This engagement is welcomed, provided that Council business is not disrupted or disturbed.

We ask that anyone recording the meeting complies with the Council’s approved protocol (see below).
