An interactive installation of giant inflatable plants and flowers is coming to Hitchin from 9 July to 2 October, encouraging kids to learn and have fun with botanicals.

The museum in the centre of town has secured the special exhibition from visual artists Spacecadets Air Design whose hugely popular Blood and Bone exhibition was hosted by the museum in 2019. Exotic flowers from the botanical invasion and a giant cactus tunnel for children to walk through (pictured above) will take over the gallery and it’s all free to see! Activities for children on a botanical theme will also be taking place, please book online: www.northhertsmuseum.org

Cllr Keith Hoskins, Executive Member for Enterprise and Arts, said: “Following the brilliant Blood and Bone exhibition we had a few years ago, we are pleased to welcome back Spacecadets with their colourful and spectacular display of giant inflatable botanicals which travels all over to cultural venues and festivals.”

Cllr Tom Plater, Deputy Executive Member for Enterprise and Arts, added: “The museum will also be taking inspiration from the special installation by exhibiting some pressed flowers from the herbarium.”

North Herts Museum is located in Brand Street, Hitchin, open Tue-Sat 10.30am-4.30pm and Sun 11am-3pm, and general admission and this exhibition is free.
