Health Protection Board Covid Fund

This fund is aimed at local community and voluntary organisations to ensure they remain viable and sustainable while delivering support to residents who have been, and continue to be, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 3 December 2021.

Aims of the fund

Community organisations have offered key services such as food deliveries, befriending services, and mental health support through the pandemic, as demand for these services arose. This increase in demand has led to higher running costs, while organisations are also unable to carry out their usual fundraising activities. Such organisations are therefore facing financial difficulties as a result of the ongoing pandemic.

This grant fund will support the continued operation of such groups, helping prevent redundancies or total closure, and enabling residents’ physical and mental health to continue to be supported.

Benefits of the grant

The grant aims to:

  • ensure that voluntary and community organisations can continue to deliver support to the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) COVID-19 response
  • enable more residents directly impacted by COVID-19 to access programmes and groups provided by the community and voluntary sector.
  • reduce the burden and demand on public sector services, as the community and voluntary services are helping deliver COVID-19 response initiatives
  • support organisations’ efforts to sustain volunteer capacity

Who can apply

  • constituted voluntary and community sector organisations (organisations do not have to be registered charities)
  • social enterprise organisations/community interest companies (Company Limited by Guarantee model)
  • charities

All applications will be reviewed thoroughly to ensure that the organisation is responding to increased demand or adapting their delivery model, as necessitated by the pandemic. The review will look for sound evidence to demonstrate this additional need.

Recipients of funds from us will need to provide all relevant documentation and will be subject to monitoring and reporting.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 3 December 2021.

Amount of funding

Organisations can apply for grants between £1,000- £20,000 out of a pot of £100,000.
