Hitchin Town Hall

Hitchin Town Hall is a community facility available to hire to residents of North Herts. Extensive refurbishment of this grade II listed building has been undertaken to provide a first-class events space.

Mountford Hall

The newly refurbished Mountford Hall is a multi-purpose events space that is available to rent with audio/visual equipment, catering facilities, temporary bar, tables, chairs and staff on hand to facilitate your event, subject to further charges.

The hall has retained its original barrel-vaulted ceiling, with an attractive cornice decorated with roses and lavender, both of which were grown locally. The sprung floor is also original. The balcony contains attractive panels with information on the history of the Town Hall, with copies of flyers and posters showing events throughout its long history.

Bookings for Mountford Hall are available until late for events held on Friday and Saturday nights, and midnight for events held Sunday to Thursday nights.

Lucas Room

The main feature of the Lucas Room is the splendid, tiled fireplace, with its carved wooden surround, and decorative plaster cartouche above, said to represent the Lucas family arms. Notice the attractive wrought iron window catches, and original door plates.

The Lucas Room offers an intimate events space that is available to rent with Audio Visual Projection and PA system. The Lucas Room is eloquently suited for many types of events, from yoga classes to business conferences, with many original features which have been retained.

Catering

Hitchin Town Hall are able to offer a bespoke in-house catering service. We cater for all types of functions, from three course sit down meals through to finger buffets. Once we are in receipt of your hire request stating that you wish to use our catering team, Town Hall staff will arrange for you to discuss your requirements further with the Catering Manager.

Alternatively, hirers are welcome to bring in their own pre prepared/cooked food (i.e. cold buffet) If pre-prepared/cooked food is brought on site, we charge the fee appropriate to the hirer as follows:

  • Community: 60p per head
  • Private: 70p per head
  • Commercial: 80p per head

We can provide a paid bar.

Security

Security staff may be required to ensure the safe running of your event. This is charged at £20 per hour.
