Overview and Scrutiny Committee

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is entitled to review and scrutinise the decisions and functions of the Council and the Cabinet and make reports or recommendations on matters affecting the authority's area and inhabitants. It has six scheduled meetings each year. The overview and scrutiny process is open to involvement by local people, and the Committee encourages their participation. If you would like to speak on a subject please call Committee Services on 01462 474353 no later than noon on the day of the meeting.

The next meeting of the Committee will take place on Tuesday 18 July at 7.30pm at Foundation House, Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 1GD.

Scrutiny Reviews

As well as its scheduled meetings, the Committee establishes a number of task and finish groups each year to look at topics in more depth. Once a review is complete, a report is prepared which is approved by the Committee and is then sent to the Cabinet or other public sector partners for consideration.

The report of the Task and Finish Group on the Council’s Management of Larger Projects is complete and will be considered by the Committee on 18 July and by Cabinet on 26 September.

The next task and finish group will look at consultation and is due to begin in August or September. A draft scope is included in the Committee's work programme for this meeting.
